I’m in awe every time I stumble upon an agave plant - their otherworldly appearance, their smooth flesh imprinted with scars, their fierce shape contrasting against the softest ocean blues. They are like fireworks exploding outwards in near perfect symmetry, stars enduring in the harshest of landscapes. This painting celebrates these strange creatures and the wonderful effect they have on those that engage with them.
Notes: This foxtail agave plant pattern was captured during my studies at the Florida Botanical Gardens. The shapes are intentionally stripped, while the brushstrokes are layered so as to simulate the wild, yet organized nature of their patterns. The warmth and vibrancy of color fades moving outwards from the center, emphasizing their similarity to fireworks and stars.
