There are few creatures more mysterious and otherworldly than jellyfish. Once, while swimming through coral reefs, I suddenly found myself surrounded by countless transparent Thimble jellies. My first reaction was to panic, but I knew they weren’t dangerous. I relaxed and fell into a transfixed state of awe. They were enchanting, moving peacefully and rhythmically through the rolling sea, their soft glow fading into the distance. It was an unforgettable moment.
I sought to capture that feeling during my creation of this piece, while also creating my own jellyfish - vibrant and glowing and magnificent. I hope that the viewer feels as immersed in this visual as I felt during that moment in the sea.
